Bressuire Town


The school (site Rheas) enjoys a particularly pleasant, it is big and located near the town of Bressuire while being built near the unspoiled area the Coulee Verte, town and country come together in perfect harmony so ! Kindergarten children have a court-appointed (for 55 children) and 120 primary school children benefit another court, which allows to respect the particularities of each age.

Bressuire is located to the west in the middle of France, near the sea. This is about a huge administrative center of the department "Deux-Sèvres". There are about 20 000 inhabitants if you include the villages around.

The second largest town in Deux-Sèvres, Bressuire has a long trading tradition with a lot of small traditional industries. Most of the monuments date from the 19th century.
The castle
The castle was built on a rocky promontory. It dominates the town and the valley of the river named the Dolo. In the Middle Age it was one of the main military site in the Poitou province. Its history is linked to the Beaumont family. The castle was built in stages, with a first perimeter wall dating from 11th century and a second, including 38 towers, from the 13th century. Temporary exhibitions are held every year. Two years ago, in june, Bressuire has been the center for the World Highland Games Championships.


The chapel Saint Cyprien
The foundation of this chapel in the 10th century lies at the origins of Bressuire. It was given to the Saint-Cyprien abbey in Poitiers in 1028. The crypt is supported by a single central pillar and you can admire frescoes.

Notre Dame church (12th and 16th century)
The 56 meters renaisance tower rises high above the town and its surrounding countryside.

The Bressuire Art and History Museums
They are in the old graneries of the town. As well as the old buildings, documents and works of local artists, on the first floor you will find 18th and 19th century French earthenware galleries and Middle Age ceramics. On the ground floor, there is temporary painting and sculpture exhibitions.
